I had a fun time at Adventure World for their Adults only party. Lots of people enjoying themselves and lots dressed ready for an instant plummet into the water! I saved my self for the gentler rides like the giant swinging boat and the soft nudging boats. Everyone got wet and partied!

I joined the good people from LACA (Latin American Cultural Association) the other night for our monthly committee meeting. From 7:30pm until 11pm we covered everything from the upcoming Winter Carnival and Salsa contest which I will be organising to TeleLatina and an upcoming Art Exhibition.

The Sky Show (Fire works) were a real treat from my cozy vantage point on the forshore of Applecross. Nice to see many standing during the national anthem. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie...

I had a great night dancing and filming for TeleLatina to be seen later on Access 31 TV. The club is called "The Big Apple" in Hay street East Perth.

I had the pleasure of joining the gang from AMEC Oil & Gas in their private box at the Hopman Cup. TV Star of Access 31 Marina Adams was there too along with Sir Cliff Richard.

We were talking of famous names that were made so popular that nowadays they are hardly used at all! Some of the names were... Elvis, Cassanova, Jesus, Gungadin, Romeo, Mata Harri, Abraham. Do you know any others? "Click Here"

Enjoy all the art around town with "Gallery Watch" on Access 31 TV at 10pm hosted by Jon Lewis.

African Footprint currently performing at the Regal Theatre is very good. The performance is tight and flowing, the performers are inviting and it seems everyone was smiling! How nice is that!

The show is only on for a few weeks and I do think it is a show for all people. After the show we had a party with the dancers and Sandra from "Socialite" was there making her TV show. It was nice to Di Bauwens too.

I had a great time meeting up with my friends at the Safety House Association of WA's monthly meeting. We were gearing up for Safety House week. This is an excellent organisation and please keep an eye out for the Safety House Association logo of the big yellow house.

We had such a lovely time at our "Christmas in July" lunch at the glamorous Friends Restaurant at the Hyatt. Santa was there giving away Christmas Crackers, Sara & Brad sang magically and thanks to Chef Stuart Bell the food was delicious! Yum!

We have our next one ready... "Melbourne Cup Lunch", you know the date. Book Now if you want to make sure you have a seat!!!

Also Thomas Crane and Freddie Mercury have a lot in common as we all discovered last night at "Friends". He absolutely wowed the crowd and every one sang along and danced too! We all cheered him for an encore!

Top 10 Tips for Travelers

1. Make sure you have a signed, valid passport (and visas, if required).
Also, before you go, fill in the emergency information page of your passport!
2. Read the Consular Information Sheets (and Public Announcements or Travel
Warnings, if applicable) for the countries you plan to visit.
3. Familiarise yourself with local laws and customs of the countries to
which you are traveling. While in a foreign country, you are subject to its laws.
4. Make 2 copies of your passport identification page. This will facilitate
replacement if your passport is lost or stolen. Leave one copy at home with
friends or relatives. Carry the other with you in a separate place from
your passport.
5. Leave a copy of your itinerary with family or friends at home so that
you can be contacted in case of an emergency.
6. Do not leave your luggage unattended in public areas. Do not accept
packages from strangers.
7. If you plan to stay abroad for more than two weeks, upon arrival you
should notify by phone or register in person with the embassy in the
country you are visiting. This will facilitate communication in case
someone contacts the embassy looking for you.
8. To avoid being a target of crime, try not to wear conspicuous clothing
and expensive jewelry and do not carry excessive amounts of money or
unnecessary credit cards.
9. In order to avoid violating local laws, deal only with authorised agents
when you exchange money or purchase art or antiques.
10. If you get into trouble, contact the nearest embassy.

Top 10 Tips when buying a computer

1. Don't buy a computer from anywhere that sells fridges or mass produced products.
2. Don't go for overkill. Only buy a computer that will suit your needs. An experienced technician will guide you on this.
3. Buy a custom built machine not a brand name.
4. Stay away from package offers with a lot of FREE SOFTWARE etc. Its not free and you are paying for it somewhere in the package. Most of the software you probably wouldn't use anyway.
5. These days 256mb of memory is pretty much standard and its affordable.
6. Hard drives you want a 7200 rpm not 5400. The cost is minimal but the speed difference
is visible. 40gb in size minimum.
7. Canon s520 printer is great value for money and a very fast colour printer $340.
8. Always discuss with a technician not a salesman.
9. Make sure the computer has a legal copy of Windows with it and all the different driver disks that should come with the computer.
10. Make sure you ask the technician to explain things in laymans terms not technical jargon.
Never tell a salesman or technician you know nothing about computers. They will probably try and rip you off.

Half & Half

Look at the Cook's Thesaurus: http://www.foodsubs.com/Dairyoth.html

half-and-half = half & half (10.5 - 18% fat)

cream Creams vary according to the amount of butterfat they have. Lightest of all is half & half, which is half milk, half cream and weighs in with a butterfat content between 10.5 - 18%. It can't be whipped, but it's nice with coffee, or on cereal.

Substitutes: equal parts cream and milk OR evaporated milk OR 7/8 C milk + 1 ½ tablespoons butter or margarine

Did you know that the first submarine was designed in 1578?

William Bourne, a British mathematician, drew plans for a submarine in

1578. But it was only in 1620 that Cornelius van Drebbel, a Dutch inventor,

managed to build a submarine. He wrapped a wooden rowboat tightly in

waterproofed leather and had air tubes with floats to the surface to

provide oxygen. Of course, there were no engines yet, so the oars went

through the hull at leather gaskets. He took the first trip with 12 oarsmen

in the Thames River - staying submerged for 3 hours.

The first submarine used for military purposes was built by David Bushnell

(1742-1824) of the US. His "Turtle" was a one-man, wooden submarine powered

by hand-turned propellers. It was used during the American Revolution

against British warships. The Turtle would approach enemy ships partially

submerged to attach explosives to the ships's hull. The Turtle worked well

but the explosives did not.

Two rival inventors from the US developed the first true submarines in the

1890s. The US Navy purchased submarines built by John P Holland, while

Russia and Japan opted for the designs of Simon Lake. Their submarines used

petrol or steam engines for surface cruising and electric motors for

underwater travel. They also invented torpedoes which were propelled by

small electric motors, thereby introducing one of the most dangerous

weapons in the world.
