ZITZ M E D I A
R E L E A S E
ZITZ is locally
produced feature-length musical film. It is the product of three
separate parties:
Paul Kooperman is
the writer and co-producer of the film. Paul has been a professional
playwright since 1993 having had productions on at the Regal Theatre,
Effie Crump Theatre, the WA Academy of Performing Arts, Subiaco
Theatre Centre, PICA and the Blue Room Theatre as well as a piece
filmed at Channel Nine Studios. Paul was also the Katharine Susannah
Pritchard Established Writer-in-residence in 1997. ZITZ is his first
screenplay.
Timothy Brain is
the director of the film. Allison Snell is the Director of
Photography. Together, they are the founders of FROM THE HIP
PRODUCTIONS. They are also co-producers of ZITZ. After also being
involved in the ëPerth Theatre Sceneí, Tim and Allison
branched out early in their careers to form a production company and
make films. ZITZ is a new adventure for the pair, being their first
feature-length musical film.
Carmel School
have provided the resources and funding for the film. The students
from the School are the key actors. The show stars Nicky Karro,
Monique Rothstein, Romi Gordon and Sarah Levitt. The film has been
largely achieved through professional ëindustry peopleí
coming in to work with the student actors.
Paul, Tim and
Allison have been the main inspiration behind ZITZ, which will be
screened at the ASTOR CINEMA opening September 2nd.
What if a teenage
girl decided to live out every kidís fantasy by running away
with her three best friends, to live happily ever after?
ZITZ is the story
of Romy Zitsman, a girl from a broken home, who does just that. It is
a romantic idea that all children dream of, all parents fear, and all
people (at some point) fantasize about.
ZITZ is about a
girl who refuses to grow up ñ a modern day Peta Paní.
But not everything ends like it does in the movies.
A CD of the
soundtrack has been released and will be available at the show, when
it is screened in September at the Astor.
